This book provides a history of the citrus industry in Southern California, the immigration and employment of Mexican and Asian laborers, and the development and transformation of the citrus belt. From a period of discrimination and segregation and formation of political coalitions and multiracial communities, the book also shows the social trends and patterns that have continued to reshape and redefine Greater Los Angeles.
