Reimagining Indian Country
This book discusses the lives and experiences of American Indians in urban America over the course of the twentieth century. It focuses on Greater Los Angeles as the “urban Indian capital of the United States” and the home of the largest and most diverse urban American Indian population in the country. The book attempts to put the story of the Knifechiefs in a larger context by telling a social and cultural history of American Indians, including their mobility and migration, and racialized power structures.
