This chapter discusses the issue of African American recruiting, the attendance of minority midshipmen, and the continuing problems of racism at the Naval Academy. To promote effective non-white recruitment, Naval Academy officials established a Minority Candidate Section to seek minority midshipmen and then used the Naval Academy Preparatory School to bring minority group candidates into Annapolis.
